Dhanushkodi is an abandoned town at the south-eastern tip of Pamban Island of the state of Tamil Nadu in India. Bordered by the Bay of Bengal on one side and the Indian Ocean on the other, Dhanushkodi once used to serve as an important port for both traders and pilgrims. One part of Shri Ram setu is known as Dhanushkodi (Dhanushkodi means an end of bow) because about 17, 50, 000 years ago, Sri Ram marked this place with end of his Kodanda bow for building a bridge (setu) to enter Ravana’s Lanka!
