Dec 5, 2024 · I have been considering water resistant/proof HT's, and the Baofeng uv-9g seems to have good reviews with a IP67 rating. Does anyone have any thoughts on this HT? I am also open to suggestions, whatever it is though I need to order at least 3.

Aug 7, 2021 · The new radio is the UV-9G, and it's touted as being waterproof with an IP67 rating. It looks like the same radio as the UV-9R and GT-3WP models (but with different firmware), and appears to be based on the UV-82 model.

May 2, 2023 · The UV-9G is a good starter radio. It's easy to use, 5 watts on high, you can change the bandwidth from the radio, it's IP67 rated so it can be in water up to 3ft for up to 30 minutes. But, it has a Motorola connection so you will need to be sure to get accessories that have that type of connector.
