Our story began in 1947 when a group of well-known filmmakers, brought together by producer Sir Alexander Korda, formed the British Film Academy. Their idea – to create an organisation that would “advance the art and technique of film".

Nomadland won four BAFTAs: Best Film, Director for Chloé Zhao, Leading Actress for Frances McDormand, and Cinematography for Joshua James Richards.

Feb 18, 2024 · The Zone of Interest won three BAFTAs: Outstanding British Film, Film Not in the English Language, and Sound. The Holdovers won two categories: Supporting Actress for Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Casting. Anatomy of a Fall won Original Screenplay. American Fiction won Adapted Screenplay.

London, 14 May 2017: The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has announced the winners of this evening’s Virgin TV British Academy Television Awards, celebrating and rewarding the very best programmes and performances of 2016.

Feature films can be entered into the following British Academy Awards: BAFTA Scotland Awards, BAFTA Cymru Awards and the BAFTA Film Awards. Any release which falls outside of these definitions will not normally be eligible.
