The Court considers appeals from almost any case that originates in a circuit court or an orphans’ court in Maryland. Parties who are unsuccessful in the Appellate Court may be able to seek further review in the Supreme Court , Maryland’s highest court.

Appeals to the Appellate Court of Maryland | Maryland Courts
The Appellate Court of Maryland hears appeals from the circuit courts and orphan’s courts. It does not hear appeals that come from any other courts. Sometimes a circuit court case must instead be appealed to the Supreme Court of Maryland.

Court Schedule - Maryland Courts
Pursuant to modified Rule 8-521(a)(2), effective August 1, 2020, cases in the Appellate Court of Maryland will be “assigned to successive sessions of the Court after the record is complete and the appellee’s brief has been filed” or the time for filing the appellee’s brief has expired.
