You can see easily shoals, rocks, and abrupt bottom changes. As you mention you can also rotate the boat and scout for changes in depth around a potential anchorage.

With Lowrance, the included mount that comes standard allows you to do scout mode whereas with the Garmin you have to spend another $100 to get the perspective mode mount.

The majority of the screen is to the right and has the panoptix display looking straight down. The top of the display has a tool bar with navigation information.
