Mar 21, 2019 · If you program a Baofeng UV-5R to GMRS you need a GMRS licence. I see you understand that the radio is indeed a HAM radio and by the part 95 rules that your GMRS licence is authorized forbids the use of such equipment on GMRS. I won't get into all the details but here is the simple and best way I know how to explain this.

If you purchased a Baofeng handheld GMRS radio and want to program it using software, use the new CHIRP_NEXT software, it works so much better with Baofeng Radio's. Feb 29, 2024 · I found programming pretty easy using a Baofeng programming cable with a CH340 Chip and using the GMRS-330 Series CPS Software for a UV-5G Plus. I just could not get it read on Chirp but I didn't mess with it for more than a few minutes.

Dec 26, 2022 · The version 1 of the gmrs-v1 and the Gmrs 50x1, same deal. Got a service menu password that semi worked, but all I succeeded in doing is breaking the vfo scan (it only scans uhf now, no vhf, though I can type them in). Version 2 of the gmrs-v1 apparently comes with the ability to program some custom channels.

Aug 26, 2024 · But typically an antenna like a discone antenna will cover a broad enough range to be useful from 108-509, for listening. If you are using the radio for GMRS the antenna should cover 462-468MHz. Again, a discone could be a pretty good antenna for 2m, 1.25m, 70cm, and GMRS. Or the Comet CA2X4SR. Both a discone or the comet will be external antennas.

Aug 26, 2024 · I screwed up and got the AR5RM-PLUS. That radio is locked and can't transmit on FRS/GMRS/MURS frequencies. I just sucked it up and threw it in a box and got an AR5RM that comes unlocked. It's a great little radio and I'm still learning stuff about it. I had to get a GMRS antenna for it. I bought a couple of GMRS antennas for additional Baofengs.

GMRS Channels. gmrsChans_20220706TZ.csv. Taken from a Baofeng UV-9G's defaults with tweaked names. NOTES: Channels 1–7 should be set to no more than 5W.
