The W does have a different six-speed tranny compared to the XC with a lower first for extremely tight trails. My impression of the 300 XC-W took place at the famed Soboba Trail Ride that Malcolm Smith had helped start over 30 years ago.

Oct 7, 2021 · So, here is what I ended up with…. a previously enjoyed 2017 KTM 300 XC-W. It is amazing! Though, I have installed a G2 Throttle Tamer and switched out the Yellow power valve spring for then Green one.

Aug 6, 2020 · Overall I think the xc is a more versatile bike. I can go ride mx one day and then ride hard enduro the next. Where it shines though is aggressive hare scramble type riding. The harder you ride it the better it works. The xcw is better if you spend 90%+ of your time riding single-track or hard enduro type stuff 1-3 gear type stuff.

We found the Red one to be great for trail riding slowly and the Blue needle for anyone who liked riding aggressively, for most conditions. Other than that their chart was spot on and the range of altitude and temperature seemed to get to the level of the former Keihin carb.

With a bone stock 300 XCW and box of aftermarket parts I went down to Brockstar Performance to build my dream bike. The bike will be ridden on technical singletrack and will inevitably hit the ground often so it needs the protection to withstand the falls and rocky terrain.
