Dec 22, 2023 · SpaceX Falcon 9 first stage boosters perform what SpaceX refers to as an entry burn to slow the stage as it reenters the atmosphere. Since the Starship Super Heavy booster is made of stainless steel will it still have to do an entry burn? The Falcon 9 is made of aluminium which has a much lower melting point than steel.

Apr 14, 2024 · Recently, after IFT 3 of Starship Super Heavy, I went to ponder: Can SpaceX land their Super Heavy boosters on Autonomous Spaceport Droneships to get extra performance. Currently, it separates with about 10% of its fuel left (Shown on the fuel bar in SpaceX IFT 3 flight video at around T+ 2:44). It then does a boostback burn and lands.

Today (10/13/24), SpaceX launched Starship for the fifth time and, for the first time, successively landed/caught a Super Heavy booster, Booster 12. I know that the first Falcon 9 Booster recovered, B1019, was never reused and just put on display. Will SpaceX do something similar for Booster 12, or do they plan to actually fly it again?
