Find below a map of media outlets across the U.S. that primarily serve Black communities. It accompanies the Black Media Directory, a project of the Black Media Initiative at the Center for Community Media.

Aug 11, 2023 · This is a passion project by a small group of people who love Black Rock City and also maps! We collect placement information voluntarily from camps and artists who wish to share their approximate location in advance of arriving to the playa.

The Golden Spike is a physical stake that establishes the center most point of Black Rock City. From this coordinate, the layout of city streets and location of key installations are mapped. The coordinates provided here are estimates until the official golden spike is placed.

Black Rock City is planned and operated using precise mapping data gathered and processed after the Golden Spike is set at the center of the city. This dataset is exported from that mapping operation and provides the GPS locations of streets, trash fence, and points of interest in the city.

Following on their 2018 study, these MIT Media Lab researchers are back in 2022 to further understand how communities connect to one another in the Burning Man ecosystem.

Nov 2, 2017 · “Basically, with 70,000 participants and 156 million square feet in Black Rock City, it’s up to all of us to find the MOOP that hits the ground. Burning Man happened, and generally speaking the community does an amazing job leaving no trace.

The radial streets of Black Rock City are named by their clock position. The light blue shaded area does not specify, but rather approximates, where you will find reserved-placement camps: interactive theme camps, camps supporting art installations, and infrastructure camps.
