Selena Gomez appeared to make a backhanded comment about Emilia Pérez co-star Karla Sofía Gascón, who has drawn rebuke for disparaging posts about George Floyd and Muslims on social media. Gomez said that she had “no regrets” about appearing in the film but admitted that some of the hype around the movie—which received a record-breaking number of nominations for this year’s Oscars—had evaporated in light of the controversy.
