Officers with the Goldsboro Police Department are investigating the death of a man after finding him in his home. Officers went to a residence on South John Street

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WITN) - Police are investigating the death of a man who was found in a Goldsboro home last night. Police were called to a home on S. John Street around 7:30 p.m. for a report of someone possibly dead. When officers got to the house, they found 65-year-old Donnell Hinton and called for Wayne County EMS.

Donnell Depriest Hinton was found dead in Goldsboro on Thursday morning. Police are investigating the circumstances around his death.

According to the Goldsboro Police Department, officers responded at around 5:48 p.m. to a ShotSpotter alert on the 600 block of W. Oak Street. While investigating the alert, police said a man arrived at UNC Health Wayne with apparent gunshot wounds.
