The moon has come into view for Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost spacecraft, which is scheduled to land on Earth's nearest neighbor a month or so from now.

The spacecraft built and operated by Texas-based Firefly Aerospace launched in the early Monday hours from Florida aboard a SpaceX rocket.

RAC is Aegis’ first payload to the moon’s surface, and it will operate for 14 days. For Stephanie Murphy, who took over the company from her father and built it into its current form, it was an "unmatched buzz" to see the launch from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

Blue Ghost One, a Cedar Park-built lunar lander, is orbiting Earth and will eventually land on the Moon to conduct experiments as part of NASA's Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) initiative.
