“For nearly 250 years, we called the bald eagle the national bird when it wasn’t,” said Jack Davis, co-chair of the National Bird Initiative for the National Eagle Center, in a news release. “But now the title is official, and no bird is more deserving.”

Lannert was visiting Fort Myers Beach where she saw a beautiful Bald Eagle hanging out, searching for a snack. The eagle didn't quite fit the match of the most common birds to see at local beaches like: Pelicans, Great Blue Herons, Ospreys, White Ibis, and Red-shouldered Hawks.
