A new report states that Tesla will pause part of new Model Y production at Gigafactory Shanghai for 3 weeks to upgrade the lines. The shutdown will extend beyond the regular Chinese New Year.

However, even for Tesla, shutting down a production line for three weeks is unusual. For comparison, the Model 3 production line will only be stopped for a week, from January 26 to February 3.
