The entertainment industry is paying tribute to David Lynch, with Steven Spielberg remembering the iconic director as a "visionary dreamer."

Mr. Lynch was a onetime artist who broke through in the 1970s with the surreal “Eraserhead” and rarely failed to startle and inspire audiences and peers in the following decades.

David Lynch, the filmmaker and director behind such movies as “Eraserhead,” “Blue Velvet” and the TV series “Twin Peaks,” has died, his family announced in a message posted to his official Facebook page.
