The Great Aldi Conversion has slowed down a bit. The discount grocery chain is selling the Winn-Dixie, Harveys stores it bought less than a year ago.

The new owners of Winn-Dixie include a New Hampshire-based wholesale grocery company. Winn-Dixie and Aldi each now have eight stores in Brevard.

At least one Winn-Dixie store in Pensacola is still planning to be converted into an Aldi despite selling stores back to Southeastern Grocers.

Winn-Dixie’s iconic brand name will remain above more than 100 stores across Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia and Alabama after its parent Southeastern Grocers was purchased from

Last year, Aldi acquired Winn-Dixie and Harveys from Jacksonville, Fla.-based Southeastern Grocers. The deal included grocery store locations across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi.

When Aldi announced its plans to purchase Southeastern Grocers, the fast-growing supermarket chain said it would convert many of the Winn-Dixie and Harveys stores. Aldi said it would convert about 220 of the stores to its format over the next two years. At least four former south Louisiana Winn-Dixies are currently being rebranded as Aldi stores.

After marking hundreds of stores for conversion, ALDI sells the rest of the Winn-Dixie and Harveys stores it acquired less than a year ago.
