Uprooting your life to move to another state is a major undertaking — but, in 2024, five states saw an influx of residents doing just that.

Health officials in Louisiana say a person there has died after catching bird flu. This marks the first reported death in the U.S. from the virus during the current outbreak.

The overall average breast cancer incidence rate in the U.S. was 131.8 per 100,000 and the overall average breast cancer mortality rate was 19.3 per 100,000. Among women in the U.S., breast cancer accounts for 32% of all cancer cases and 14% of all cancer deaths, the report found.

Some Indiana lawmakers have taken steps to absorb the Illinois counties that have voted to leave the state. Last election, seven Illinois counties joined more than 20 others to greenlight a proposal to explore splitting from the state. Madison County in the Metro East became the first nonrural county to pass the referendum.
