On Friday night, the Carolina Hurricanes made a blockbuster deal with the Colorado Avalanche, acquiring Mikko Rantanen in exchange for Martin Necas and Jack Drury.

The 2025 NHL trade deadline is a little over a month away, and we are already starting to see moves occur. Former New Jersey Devils star Taylor Hall was recently traded to the Carolina Hurricanes in the massive three-team Mikko Rantanen blockbuster.

The Carolina Hurricanes, Colorado Avalanche and Chicago Blackhawks pulled off a blockbuster three-team trade that could further complicate the New Jersey Devils ' Stanley Cup aspirations and influence their trade decisions by the March 7 trade deadline.

The New Jersey Devils went a little further south after their trip to Montreal. They made a stop in Philadelphia to take on the Flyers on Jan. 27 before they would head back home.

NHL general managers indicated that the Carolina Hurricanes' trade for Mikko Rantanen won't change their deadline approach.
