Crunchyroll revealed it is one of the backers of a new adaptation of popular video game Ghost of Tsushima and also plans to launch a manga app as a premium add-on for its subscribers.

Rahul Purini, president of Crunchyroll, said in a news release that the Ghost of Tsushima anime “will offer fans an exciting new way to experience the game in an anime style that will be bold and groundbreaking.

Crunchyroll is a joint venture between U.S.-based Sony Pictures Entertainment and Japan’s Aniplex, a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment (Japan), both subsidiaries of Tokyo-based Sony Group.

Crunchyroll, Aniplex, Sony Music, and PlayStation Studios are all collaborating on the upcoming series, which is currently scheduled to premiere in 2027.
