A potent cold front will enter the north-central U.S. before roaring across much of the rest of the nation over the weekend.

Parts of the U.S. have been forecast to receive snow through Friday night, a forecast map by AccuWeather shows. Much of the country has been hit with plunging temperatures this month, and numerous states were under advisories from the National Weather Service (NWS) as of Friday morning.

The coldest temperatures of the winter season are still ahead. A new arctic blast of polar air is predicted to push down into the central and eastern United States from northern Canada following a winter storm that gridlocked travel across the country,
