Steve Smith hit his 36th test century and shared an unbeaten 239-run partnership with Alex Carey as Australia powered to 330-3 at stumps on day two of the second cricket test against Sri Lanka in Galle on Friday.

Australia's Usman Khawaja struck a maiden double hundred and Josh Inglis got a century on his test debut against Sri Lanka to power the tourists to a mammoth 654 for six before they declared their first innings on day two of the opening test on Thursday.

Fresh off a double hundred in the first test, Usman Khawaja once again underlined why he is Australia’s finest batsman in Asian conditions as he led the tourists past an early wobble to reach 85-2 at lunch on Day 2 of the second test against Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka added on another 28 runs from their overnight score, with Kusal Mendis finding the boundary on a few occasions. Ultimately, Kumara was dismissed to end the innings.
