The St. Pete Pier’s focal point, the “Bending Arc” sculpture by Janet Echelman, is being taken down to see if it can be rehung in a way that leaves it less susceptible to storm damage.

Crews began removing the Bending Arc net sculpture Monday after sustaining damages from the last hurricane season. Recently, the St. Pete City Council approved spending $33,000 for its removal. The iconic artwork from renowned Tampa artist Janet Echelman is known for its breathtaking views and mesmerizing shapes it creates.

Months after multiple hurricanes caused damage to the ‘Bending Arc’ sculpture at the St. Pete Pier, crews will work this week to remove it.
