A court in Rhode Island issued a temporary restraining order to block Trump’s directive to defund programs he considers to be “woke.”

U.S. District Judge John McConnell said statements from the White House had undercut its attempt to rescind the memo ordering the spending freeze.

Democrats said the move was an unconstitutional seizure of power over the federal budget and warned of disruptions in funding to local police, domestic violence shelters, food programs and more.
