Team India skipper Rohit Sharma confirmed that Virat Kohli will be sitting out of the first ODI in Nagpur due to a knee injury. Rohit confirmed the news during the toss on Thursday, February 6. The captain further stated that Kohli suffered the problem last night.

The ODI series against England is India's only tune-up tournament for the Champions Trophy, to be held in Pakistan and Dubai from February 19.

England captain Jos Buttler has elected to bat first, with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Harshit Rana making their debuts for India. India and England share a rich history, having clashed in 107 ODIs. The Men in Blue have won 58 games while England own 44 wins. Two matches have ended in a tie (NR: 3).

India captain Rohit Sharma bristled at questions about his form and future in international cricket, saying on Wednesday he was fully focused on this month's one-day international series against England and the Champions Trophy.

Shreyas Iyer last played for India in the 2-0 ODI series defeat in Sri Lanka in August 2024, and is now back in the mix for back-to-back 50-over assignments in the national set-up.
