Pixxel, an Indian space tech startup backed by Google, has successfully launched the first three hyperspectral satellites of its commercial constellation Firefly.

Breaking new ground in frontier technologies with student innovators – Google Cloud India and Campus Fund are excited to announce the launch of FutureX, a national platform designed to identify ground-breaking innovation and nurture India’s most promising student-led startups in frontier technologies.

The startup intends to deploy 18 satellites in its constellation to deliver essential climate and Earth insights to industries worldwide. These indigenously developed satellites were integrated through SpaceX’s Exolaunch and launched aboard the Transporter-12 rideshare mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

Space startup Pixxel, which is based out of Bengaluru has made history on Wednesday by launching India's first private constellation of earth imaging satellites called Firefly, thereby making a grand entrance into the fast-emerging field of hyper-spectral imaging.

Two Indian startups based in Karnataka's Bengaluru on Wednesday announced the launch of their satellites to monitor the earth and objects orbiting around it closely, marking a new era for private firms in the space sector.

SpaceX successfully launched and placed satellites from three Indian startups into orbit. These include Digantara's SCOT, Pixxel's Firefly constellation satellites, and XDLINX Spacelabs' ELEVATION-1.
