It is not necessary. We did not take a guided tour, just went through ourselves. The film is good, I recommend that. And just walking through reading all the placards on the displays …

It is not necessary. We did not take a guided tour, just went through ourselves. The film is good, I recommend that. And just walking through reading all the placards on the displays and monuments gives tons of information and a real feel for the stories of the soldiers, battles, etc of the war and the D day campaigns. We went with our two kids, 11 and 9, and my in-laws. All enjoyed tremendously.

Yes I believe dogs are allowed. There are no signs prohibiting them on the beach.
