If you get to Etretat very early in the morning you can get a parking space in the prime spot next to the Hotel de Ville innthevtown centre which is ideal for the whole visit. They have changed the ticket macine back to a card and cash system which means that you can just buy a tickey for your car with cash and without a lot of complications. The problem is that you have to get to the carpark well before nine am, eight is better, but the machines won't sell you a ticket til nine am. So you have to be sharp ane remember to buy a ticket at nine, even if you've been wandering abour for an hour. The train up the hills is fine if you're disabled, as a tour, but the place is so small, and it's essence so limited that if you are able bodied it's best to explore on foot. Last monday we went early, got a parking space in the middle of town, had alovely swm, and wandered round the town before the hoardes of tourists arrived. Apart from the beach , les fallaises, and a few nice shops there isn't a lot to Etretat, and it suffers from being ao popular that the local traders dohave to make much effort.
We are planning a day trip(Sunday) from Paris to Etretat. We will be taking the flixbus and reach Etretat at 11:20 pm. We have 4 -5 hours before we take the evening bus back to Etretat. Is the cliff/beach walkable where the bus stops or do we need to take a cab to reach these locations? Are there places to eat close by?

Yes. The trail is good and you can walk from the bus stop up the cliff on the west side to see a spectacular view. If there is time, you can also walk the path up the east side - goes up to the 'Chapelle Notre dame de la Garde'. But the west side is a better walk. My husband and I are in our 70s and we are able to walk both sides. But there is a small bus that will aide. Again I prefer to west side (no church) as the slope is less steep. One side of this slope is a golf course. You will not regret the time you spend. Etretat is and was so beautiful that Monet painted one of his famous works. Also one of the oldest Norman houses is there - the Guy de Maupassant's house. Yes there are places to eat. But try to spend little time eating as the scenery is just elegant. Have fun! Hope this helps.
Hi, Maria. What would you like to know about this attraction? Hello we are stopping at Falise d'Etretat for a few hours. We have a rented car so if we go up by the Church will we have a lot of walking and climbing to do to see the cliffs and Elephant head as my husband cannot do a lot of walking.

I’d park in the center of town right by the beach. That way you’d be close to both cliff sides.
We will be in Etretat in September just for an overnight stay. We will not have a car. How do you get to the cliffs - or basically, how do you get around in Etretat? Thank you. Steelergirl

You can walk everywhere in Etretat. It is very small. We parked our car and never moved it the whole weekend. Enjoy!
