This is the one thing I regret about my Christmas trip to Helsinki...that I did not buy a reindeer hide. I can't compare prices between Helsinki and Lapland but I can tell you that prices are definitely a lot cheaper in Helsinki than in the US.
I am going to stay in Helsinki in the evening 7:00pm on 24/12/2017 to morning 10:00am on 25/12/2017 May I know if there is any big market / Christmas market open till late on 24/12 or in the morning in 25/12? Unfortunately most of Helsinki is closed, except hotels and some restaurants. Take a walk around city and admire Xmas lights and visit those few restaurants for hot drinks.
